About Me

Hello and Welcome to Division 8!

A Bit About Mrs. Wong

My favourite part about teaching is the moment when a student who has been struggling with an idea finally understands it. It is exciting - you can actually see their face light up. My name is Carol Wong and this is my 24th year of teaching. I think I have the greatest job in the world - every year is different and every student is unique. I have always taught in Maple Ridge, although what I have taught has changed a bit. I spent the first dozen years of my career teaching French Immersion, I have taught every grade from 3 to 7, and have had a staggering variety of blended classes. I have spent two years as the Literacy teacher at Alouette and had so much fun working on new reading and writing strategies with all the teachers and all their classes that it was hard to believe they actually paid me to do something so great.

When I am not at school, you can find me spending time with my husband and our two daughters (Sophie,18 and Anna, 21) reading, going for walks, bike riding, travelling, cooking, trying new foods, and gardening. I absolutely love art, but I don't really like Brussels sprouts (yet).
